Q:Ok. Hello! I'm 16 year old Devonne. I live in the South like Alabama South and I have the BIGGEST dream of living in California (maybe L.A.—probably L.A.) But I don't know what to prepare for like costs of living, the people, crime rate, etc. And I just wanted to know if you had ANY tips for me or what to expect. Also I plan on visiting SoCal in Decemeber '15. Thanks!
Hi Devonne, great meeting you! I think that it is awesome that you’re planning to come live over here in LA in the future. It definitely is a city with something for everyone. I am more than happy to help you, but the thing is you see, Los Angeles is such an extensive and diverse city, it is nearly impossible to have a general statement on the overall city itself. You got areas where the older folk like to reside in peace and you got places that are overrun by hipsters, you got places that are some of safest areas to live in America but there are places that you should just steer clear of once the sun goes down. There are places here where you can buy a whole closet for maybe around a hundred bucks and of course there are places where a handbag can cost you more than a two year’s salary. In order for me to help you, I would have to know more about you, because I really do think that the place you want to live in LA should accommodate to your circumstances, needs, interests, hobbies, etc. And of course there’s the matter of the huge transition it is going to be for you, moving from the south to LA, two completely different lifestyles and places. I’m glad you messaged me because I can definitely help you!

Contrary to popular belief, the Full House house is not one of the Painted Ladies in Alamo Square. The Painted Ladies were only used in their opening credits (dammit now the song is stuck in my head). The actual home is in San Francisco though, and you can visit it. Unfortunately, the owner of the home recently painted the home purple. If you plan to visit the home, be respectful of its residents because yes, there are people living in there. If you’re unlucky, someone will shoo you away while you’re there, so it’s probably best not to linger.
